Jungle 8 Creates Branding Initiative for UCSF Institute for Regeneration Medicine

Jungle 8, a leading brand strategy and graphic design agency for such non-profits as Art Share Los Angeles and The Daniel Pearl Foundation, recently combined creativity and science to complete a branding initiative for stem cell research pioneers University of California at San Francisco, Institute for Regeneration Medicine (IRM).

Jungle 8 developed IRM's new brand package to bolster greater visibility in the public realm, positioning it as the premier research facility in the field of stem cell research. The resulting identity personifies creativity, ingenuity and determination - signifying the leadership role UCSF researchers are known for historically. Services provided by the Jungle 8 team include their unique research-led design approach of Brand Positioning and Development, Identity Design, Design Guidelines plus a Collateral Package.

"IRM's new logo will be instantly recognizable as a world leader in stem cell research, differentiated by unifying the three driving aspects of this brand; research, medical treatment and most importantly, the people that benefit," said Jungle 8 Principal, Lainie Liberti. "We were ecstatic to work with an organization committed to uncovering the mysteries of the human body with the intent of improving the quality of life for millions of individuals. We cannot imagine a more significant quest, promising a far-reaching impact on society at large."

Only two years old, the Institute was initially formed as the governing body for UCSF stem cell research, spanning several departments. However the vision and role of IRM has expanded to align and coordinate over 60 independent stem cell research and application initiatives, uniquely focused on improved collaboration, communication and efficiency, thus forming the Institute for Regeneration Medicine (IRM). UCSF's historical achievements include laying the groundwork for current worldwide research on the use of human embryonic stem cells to treat disease, established by Gail Martin's work. 25 years ago, Dr. Martin, PhD a UCSF professor of anatomy, was one of the first scientists in the world to isolate precursor cells from mouse embryos and coined the term "embryonic stem cells". Additionally, UCSF is one of only two universities in the United States that derived human embryonic stem cell lines that qualified for inclusion on the National Institutes of Health Stem Cell Registry, established in 2001.
